Rock of Ages (When the Day Seems Long)

The most recent song we have taught is Rock of Ages (When the Day Seems Long) by Sandra McCracken. This hymn was written in 2005 but the lyrics feel much older than that. One of the most gripping portions says: Rock of Ages, when in want or rest, My desperate need for such a Savior I confess Pull these idols out from my heart embrace. Rock of Ages, I need your grace. We…

Journey to Judea

This Christmas will be the first year that Countryside will be hosting and running an “interactive Christmas experience.” It is more that a living nativity scene, and more than a drama. It will involve a cast of nearly 100 people in full costume with lines and sets, but it will be an outdoor event that uses nearly all of our twenty acres of property. The…

Ezekiel Class Audio

Terry Chasteen has begun teaching through the Old Testament book of Ezekiel on Sunday mornings during our Sunday School hour. Audio for those classes is available for those who missed a week or for anyone who is unable to attend but is interested in following along. Parenting on Purpose Seminar Audio

Are you a child-centered, parent-centered, or God-centered parent? The Bible is clear in teaching this truth: children are given to parents by God, and this gift brings with it a huge measure of responsibility. Sadly, many Christians are susceptible to the pressure from our society to fall in line with the latest parenting fads and theories, resulting in many…

Come People of the Risen King

Last week we introduced a new song on Sunday night, “Come People of the Risen King”, written by Keith and Kristyn Getty with Stuart Townend. These are the same people who have produced so many other songs we love as well (“In Christ Alone”, “O Church Arise”, “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us”, “Speak O…

People Are Our Ministry

Nobody ever comes to a church with a sign around their neck saying, “Will you love me? I have been through a failed marriage” or “Will you care for me? I have just experienced a devastating loss” or “Will you accept me? I don’t know the Lord.” We are the Body of Christ and people are our ministry. We are called to reach out to the hurting, discern their need and minister…

Recap: Seven Songs We Learned in 2010

In 2010 we learned seven songs as a congregation that we have been regularly singing on Sundays. It has been a blessing to learn these together, and we trust that they have enriched the worship at our church. Here are the songs in order that we learned them.“All I Have is Christ” by Jordan Kauflin “Glorious Day” by Michael Bleeker“The First…

20 Years as a Church Family

On Sunday, November 14th, we celebrated our twentieth anniversary as a church. In April of 1989 the church began meeting, and in November of 1990 we were formally chartered and organized as a self-sustaining church. We enjoyed a special time Sunday night watching a video chronicling our history as a church family, complete with pictures and video testimonials. Overall the…
