Community Outreach
As disciples of Christ, we are called to spread the good news of the Gospel to a lost world. Find out more and learn how to get involved with these ministries below. We invite you to join us in this mission to spread the love of God and bring more people into the family of believers. Our outreach programs aim to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels loved, supported, and valued. Through these ministries, we reach out to the surrounding communities, share the gospel, and engage in various acts of service and kindness.
Our goal is not only to spread the good news of Jesus Christ but also to build fellowship among believers and promote unity within the church. By working together to reach out to those in need, we strengthen our bond as a community and grow in our faith.
By sharing the message of God’s love and grace, we offer hope and healing to those are hurting or struggling. Whether you are a long-time member of our community or someone who is searching for answers, we invite you to join us in this mission. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those around us and share the life-changing message of Jesus Christ with the world.
Missions
We believe the mission of the Church is to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). Countryside has chosen to invest in missions in three contexts: local, regional, and international.
Local
The heart of our local outreach is our members who share the gospel in their unique contexts of ministry. These include their neighbors, workplaces, and friends. Countryside is invested in Spanish outreach to those in our community isolated by language and cultural barriers. Teams within our body regularly hold Bible studies, kids programs, and ongoing personal relationships that engage our Spanish community within their context. We also partner with Mission Southside for local Gospel outreach and provision of food, clothing, and other essential items through their unique ministry platform.
Regional
Countryside has invested in church planting regionally. Redemption Hill Church in Lawrence, KS is our most recent church plant.
In addition, a team within our church body partners with individual inmates in jails, prisons, and detention centers providing books, counseling, discipleship, and mail correspondence. This ministry, called “Gateway,” is built on the premise that Jesus is the “door” or “gate” to new life, and seeks to bring hope through the light of the Gospel in personal relationships with inmates.
International
On an international level, we support two church planting pastors as staff of Countryside. Their primary task is church planting in the countries of Brazil and Mexico. This enables our church to connect more intimately with the churches they plant, embark on various mission trips to those contexts, and interact with the missionary pastors in personal and unique ways, partnering with them for the advance of the Gospel.
International Missionaries

Roger Johansen
Brazil: Missionary Pastor
Roger has been church planting in northeast Brazil. His work began in the city of Maceio on the eastern coast. For 15 years, Roger planted multiple churches and trained pastors and church leaders to shepherd those local assemblies. These churches today are active and growing under the leadership of those national pastors. After much prayer and seeking the Lord, Roger moved his family and ministry of church planting to the city of Aracaju in 2019. He is currently seeking to replicate the kind of church planting and deep personal investment of training national pastors and leaders of these new assemblies.

Brian Warne
Mexico: Missionary Pastor
Brian enjoys many opportunities to assist in training pastors in rightly handling and passionately preaching the Word of God. Utilizing a pastoral residency program through the local church in Mexico he is involved in training Latin American pastors as church planters and assisting them in planting churches throughout Mexico and Peru.
The Greatest Story Ever Told
Journey to Judea
While most people are familiar with the general idea that Christmas is related to the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem, there is much more to the story that is often not fully understood.
In reality, the birth of Jesus Christ is a major turning point in human history and the foundation of the Christian faith. It is a moment that was prophesied about for centuries and anticipated by many.
The birth of Jesus is significant not only because it fulfilled biblical prophecies, but because it also represents the beginning of a new era in human history. Jesus was not just a prophet or teacher, but the Son of God who came to earth to save humanity from sin and offer a way for us to have eternal life.
The celebration of Christmas is therefore not just a commemoration of a historical event, but a recognition of the profound spiritual significance that it represents. It is a time to reflect on the incredible love and sacrifice that God made for humanity, and to renew our faith and commitment to following Jesus Christ.
